adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Hamza has found a home! His story: The young tomcat with the lion's heart. The name Hamza comes from Arabic and means "lion" or "strong" depending on the interpretation, and this reflects the character of the five-month-old cat despite his unfortunate start in life. For Hamza's story began like so many of our shelter companions on the streets. When he was found abandoned, he had severe skin problems and his condition was very poor. He was quickly taken in to our foster home, where he was able to recover quickly. Now, fortunately, he is fully healthy and is on the lookout for a safe home. Due to his bad experience on the streets, we see Hamza as a purely indoor cat. However, he would certainly be happy with a cat-safe netted balcony where he can observe his surroundings. Hamza is a very friendly and affectionate tomcat who needs a lot of attention. He is very energetic and playful for his age, and he seems to be a very clever little fellow. In any case, he always gives a smile to "his" person. The young tomcat can be rehomed in single ownership, but he would certainly appreciate some company. If no cat is waiting for him in his new home, he will gladly take a friend from the foster home with him. Hamza can move to his new family right now and is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. Additionally, he tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport. Thank you, Silvie.

About Hamza

What life with Hamza looks like

Hamza is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hamza, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hamza?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hamza on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hamza if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hamza already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hamza isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hamza and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
