Leya, a nearly 5-year-old European Shorthair female who was previously an outdoor cat, has been living with her owner since she suffered a tail injury in an accident about three weeks ago. As a result of the injury, Leya is now incontinent for both urine and feces. Due to her temperament, two people are currently required to massage her bladder two or three times daily. The owner was able to organize help from friends until the end of next week, but this is not a long-term solution since he lives alone and must plan ahead for Leya's future. Unfortunately, there has been no sign of healing in the damaged nerves so far. It is unrealistic that the owner can manage the intensive care on his own in the long term, which poses significant health risks due to the risk of incomplete bladder emptying. Die Katze Leya hat vor ca. drei Wochen bei einem Unfall einen Schwanzabriss erlitten und ist seither harn- und stuhlinkontinent. Aufgrund ihres Temperaments werden aktuell zwingend zwei Personen benötigt, um ihre Blase zwei- bis dreimal täglich auszumassieren. Bis Ende nächster Woche konnte der Besitzer die Hilfe von Freunden organisieren. Dies ist jedoch keine dauerhafte Lösung, da er alleine wohnt und vorausschauend für Leyas Zukunft planen muss. Momentan zeichnet sich leider noch keine Heilung der beschädigten Nerven ab. Dass der Besitzer die intensive Pflege langfristig alleine bewältigen kann, ist unrealistisch und birgt durch das Risiko einer unvollständigen Blasenentleerung massive gesundheitliche Gefahren für sie. Der Besitzer möchte ausdrücklich betonen, dass ihm einzig und allein Leyas Wohl am Herzen liegt. Laut unserer Tierärztin ist das Ausmassieren bei Leya außergewöhnlich schwierig. Es sind zwingend zwei Personen nötig: Eine Person muss die Katze sanft im Nacken und an der Brust fixieren, um ein Davonlaufen zu verhindern und sie ruhig zu halten. Ich benötige dann beide Hände, um die Blase sicher zwischen den Fingern zu fixieren und den nötigen Druck gleichmäßig aufzubauen, ohne Leya zu verletzen. Bei einer alleinigen Behandlung reißt sie sich los und zeigt sich in Form von Beißen, Kratzen und Tritten entsprechend wehrhaft, während ich einhändig nicht genügend Druck auf die Blase ausüben kann. Charakter: Abseits dieser Pflegebehandlungen ist Leya extrem zutraulich, neugierig und frech.
