Hank

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Hello, I am Hank. I am a American Staffordshire Terrier-mixed breed, a bit older, but my heart is full of hope. My entire life has been spent in the Zwinger or an animal shelter, and I long nothing more than to spend my final years in my own home—a soft dog bed surrounded by people who love me. I am a friendly fellow and, despite my heart medication and special food, I am in good spirits and feel fit! On the leash, I am well-behaved and relaxed, and I enjoy my walks very much. With other dogs, I get along depending on the chemistry, but I don't like cats at all. Children should be a bit older when around me, as I value peace and clear signals. Rattery, I am watchful and fit my people well. At the same time, I have a softer side: I love to cuddle and enjoy playing—activities that bring me great joy. What I wish for? A family that gives me security, accepts me as I am, and finally shows me what it is like to have a real home. After all these years behind bars, I simply wish for a place where I am loved. Maybe I am exactly the loyal companion you are looking for.

Was ich mir wünsche?

About Hank

What life with Hank looks like

Hank is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hank, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hank?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hank on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hank if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hank already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hank isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hank and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
