Adopt Hannah + Mausi

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 6 years

Click for full view. Age: Hannah born around 2020, Mausi born around 2019. Other: vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Hannah (born around 2020) and Mausi (born around 2019) seek people with hearts who understand that trust takes time. The two black female kittens come from a feeding spot that was dissolved. They are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and otherwise in good health. For years, they had to struggle through life, always on guard, always trying to survive. They do not know what it is like to grow up carefree and safe, no warm bed, no one there for them, no security. Perhaps this explains their shy nature. Hannah and Mausi have learned to be invisible and unobtrusive. They have a gentle nature and are shy, cautious, and sensitive. They would have so much deserved to finally be seen, because something very special lies within these quiet cats. Those who meet them with patience, who give them security, and simply allow them to be as they are, will be allowed to witness how trust slowly builds from cautious glances. Perhaps Hannah and Mausi will never show their love openly, and perhaps it takes months for a cautious glance to soften or a head to seek proximity hesitantly. A gentle purr after weeks or months. But these moments are what matter and are invaluable, because love can begin very quietly. The two are very attached to each other and give each other support in a world that was never kind to them. That is why they seek a quiet home together suitable for apartment living with a secure balcony – a home where they can finally arrive and stay forever. For Hannah and Mausi, we wish understanding people without expectations or pressure. People who can see and love the quiet cats. People who understand that trust must grow and are not expecting an affectionate lap cat right away, but are willing to give two wounded souls time. Black cats are often overlooked, and the quiet ones even more so. Hannah and Mausi wait – not for anyone, but for people who do not seek perfection but want to show them what a home feels like and that life can also be beautiful and loving.

Zur Großansicht anklicken. Alter: geb.

About Hannah + Mausi

What life with Hannah + Mausi looks like

Hannah + Mausi is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Bund der Katzenfreunde e.V. in Grünwald.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hannah + Mausi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hannah + Mausi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bund der Katzenfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hannah + Mausi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hannah + Mausi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bund der Katzenfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hannah + Mausi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hannah + Mausi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bund der Katzenfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hannah + Mausi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
