Hannibal

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten

Hannibal is a beautiful cat who was discovered with a terrible injury - his tail was so badly damaged that the vets had to perform a full amputation. How did he get this way? It's heartbreaking to think about. Our poor Hannibal endured this for a long time before his rescuers found him. We are still amazed by the cats' ability to endure such catastrophic conditions and survive. But all of that is now just a bad memory for this magnificent cat. After undergoing a life-saving but also "aesthetic" surgery, Hannibal is now a unique cat without a tail, which gives him a special charm. A recovery with his foster mom allowed him to regain his strength and beauty. After his ordeal, Hannibal the magnificent will be happy to be able to finally settle in a loving family who will appreciate all his kindness and gentleness. A loving companion.

About Hannibal

What life with Hannibal looks like

Hannibal is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at L'Arche de Noé ASBL - SPA Maisières in Mons.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hannibal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hannibal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L'Arche de Noé ASBL - SPA Maisières handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hannibal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hannibal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L'Arche de Noé ASBL - SPA Maisières will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hannibal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hannibal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L'Arche de Noé ASBL - SPA Maisières early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hannibal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
