Hans

Dachshund · Male · Adult · 8 years

Name: HANS Born: 2018 Health: Vaccinated, microchipped, neutered. Breed: Dachshund male Location: In foster care in 74321 Bietigheim HANS is a real treasure—a calm, perfectly dog-friendly fellow who is incredibly friendly toward people and children—simply adorable! Sometimes, it doesn’t take much at all to fall in love—just one look at Hans is enough. This tiny, absolutely charming Dachshund-mix male stands only 35 cm tall and weighs a delicate 8 kg. Hans is an altogether easygoing, friendly, and well-balanced little guy. He approaches strangers with openness and friendliness, delights in every loving gesture, and thoroughly enjoys being close to his people. Cuddling is one of his absolute favorite activities. Hans also gets along wonderfully with children. With his calm, good-natured demeanor, everyday life with him is simply pleasant. On the leash, HANS walks completely relaxed, and he accepts putting on and taking off his collar without any fuss whatsoever—a little gentleman who makes cohabitation a breeze. Hans does have one small handicap: an accident has left his left eye blind. Yet this brave little fellow isn’t bothered by it in the slightest. He manages just fine, fully enjoys life, and his lovable personality hasn’t diminished in the least—in fact, quite the opposite! Anyone who meets Hans first notices his cheerful nature and big heart. Now, this wonderful little dog is missing just one thing: people who will love him exactly as he is and give him a loving home. Hans will reward his family with lots of loyalty, affection, and endless cuddles. Whoever gives this little heartbreaker a chance will gain a loyal friend for life. We’re happy to send videos upon request. You’re welcome to meet little Hans during a visit—just schedule an appointment beforehand. Contact: Email: Best regards, Martina Patterson

About Hans

What life with Hans looks like

Hans is a small adult dachshund dog waiting at Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hans, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hans?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hans on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hans if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hans already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hans isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundesuche Tiere in Not Bayern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hans and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
