Hans

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 11 months

During our team project tour in mid-April 2026, the Canile Arzachena was naturally a very important destination for us. On one hand, we wanted to see our long-time wards again, on the other hand, all dogs were prophylactically treated against parasites. Because as we had seen at other stations already, ticks were already widespread again.Last but not least, there were also new arrivals that we wanted to get to know. Like for example the two young dogs Hans and Harlei. The two dog boys had run away from a German who always lives in the vicinity of Arzachena for longer periods of time. After inquiries if anyone in the neighborhood missed them, remained without success. And so the German informed the Vigili, and the two dogs could move into the Canile. We had already learned from the young German, who also informed us and recommended the two boys to their heart, that Hand and Harlei should be very lovable young dogs. And it was like that. The two were thrilled when we came into their enclosure. They enjoyed our attention, the caresses and of course our treats very much. They were completely uninhibited, wanted to be stroked by us all. It was a pleasure to spend some time with them. From wholeheartedly we now wish for these two really great young dogs that they can leave the Canile quickly again with our help and travel to Germany. Here Hans and Harlei should find their dream home with loving people who will warmly welcome them into their family and let him participate in all family activities. Would you like to give Hans and Harlei, these wonderful and human-oriented young dogs, a chance at a wonderful, happy and hopefully long life?If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and you are aware that an adoption not only means a lot of joy but also work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. About Hans

What life with Hans looks like

Hans is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hans, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hans?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hans on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hans if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hans already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hans isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hans and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
