adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now! Hansi has found a home! His story: Hansi came, saw, and conquered! This wonderful giant is simply lovable… He is just charming. So describe him by the helpers: "As soon as you enter his kennel, you really don't want to leave. Hansi sticks to you immediately, kisses you all over, and hugs you with joy." ❤️ He exudes love and good mood. Unbelievable that no one wanted him anymore. Hansi will surely integrate into a family very quickly. He runs well on a leash without pulling, he meets other dogs friendly, and he always brings good mood. Hansi has the perfect age to start anew. At around 5 years old, he has left his childhood and puberty behind and has the whole life ahead of him. Hansi wishes for a home where he can settle down in peace. Children in his family should already be a bit more sturdy. Because at 60 cm shoulder height and around 30 kg and with his overflowing good mood, Hansi is quite impressive for smaller people, literally. Whether Hansi already knows life in the house, we don't know, so he should be able to forgive him the occasional mishap. Probably, he also needs to learn some more from the dog ABC. A visit to dog training classes would also be a good idea. We cannot rule out that Hansi brings herding qualities. Therefore, we are looking for a home for him that already has experience with these qualities or is willing to deal with them and above all brings the optimal conditions. You should live more rural, a garden would be great and little or changing visitors. Herding dogs bring great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs don't want any other breeds anymore, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. Hansi has already packed his luggage. He travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Also, the EU pet passport is already in his luggage. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euro, Hansi can travel. Also, he would be very happy with a foster home. Thank you Sunny W.! You gave the cheerful Hansi the perfect name and thus made the start into a better life possible. Many thanks Sabine and Thomas L.! You support Hansi with a monthly sponsorship! Stand: 06.11.

Stand: 06.11.2024

About Hansi

What life with Hansi looks like

Hansi is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hansi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hansi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hansi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hansi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hansi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hansi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hansi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
