Hardin

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Hardin is a medium-sized German Shepherd male, weighing around 23 kg. He has a distinctive short tail, which only adds to his charm! When he arrived at the shelter, he was very scared and even frightened. Despite his great fear, he did not seek conflict with humans. He primarily needed peace, patience, and time to convince himself that a human could be someone good. And now he is slowly opening up, showing more boldly how much he missed ordinary, good contact with a human. And when he trusts someone, he can forget about his size and turn into a real lap dog! Hardin knows the command "sit" - the rest of the skills are still ahead of us. With his current lack of exercise, we have not yet had the opportunity to check what he is capable of. He is a huge fan of chew toys! He can also be tempted by small, meat-based treats and can ask for his treats. He likes human contact, although he is just learning that he can fully trust him. We are looking for someone patient who will show him that life by the side of a human can be really beautiful. Someone who appreciates both his shepherd appearance and this great need for closeness hidden under the mask of shyness. Hardin was born around 2023, he has been in the shelter since the end of August 2026.

PL·Show original

Hardin to samiec w typie owczarka niemieckiego średniej wielkości, ważący około 23 kg.

About Hardin

What life with Hardin looks like

Hardin is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adopters usually cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hardin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hardin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hardin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hardin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hardin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hardin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Słupsku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hardin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
