Hardy

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Hardy born around 2019, shy, prefers to retreat, definitely needs outdoor access. Hello, I am Hardy. Even though I have been at the animal shelter for a while, people somehow make me nervous, and I prefer to keep my distance. But you know what? I really like the cat ladies here at the animal shelter – especially Peggy, whom I regularly enchant and love to cuddle with. Actually, I'm looking for a home where I can be accepted as I am: a shy tomcat who certainly needs a lot of time and affection to build trust. Maybe I'll become braver one day, or maybe not. Besides a few cozy dog beds, it's important for me to have outdoor access in a safe environment so I can enjoy life outside. It would also be nice to have an existing cat, maybe I'll enchant her just like my ladies here. If you want to get to know me, please call Kathrin Schoof at 04298 46 777 24 or send a self-disclosure form!

Aber weißt du was?

About Hardy

What life with Hardy looks like

Hardy is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Lilienthal in Grasberg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hardy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hardy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Lilienthal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hardy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hardy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Lilienthal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hardy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hardy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Lilienthal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hardy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
