Adopt Harper
Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Young · 3 years
Harper is a 3-year-old Jack Russell mix who was abandoned while pregnant. She's small (30cm, 11kg) but muscular and energetic. Incredibly intelligent and eager to learn, Harper thrives on human connection and is excellent on leash. She needs an active home with mental stimulation as shelter life is too limiting for her bright mind. Due to trigger points, she's not currently with other dogs and has prey drive, requiring a cat-free home. Harper lights up during walks and human interaction but often waits hopefully by her door. She needs experienced owners who can provide the physical and mental enrichment she craves.

Update 6.7.2025: Please don’t scroll past without giving our beautiful HARPER a chance! Harper once lived in a home, but was sadly abandoned when she became pregnant with her 5 babies (one of them – Melvin – is also still waiting in our care). She’s a beautiful Jack Russel mix, around 3 years old. Harper may be small (just around 30cm tall and weighing 11kg) but she’s full of muscle, energetic and so affectionate. Recently Harper got the chance to go on walks outside the shelter grounds and it’s become clear just how much she needs it. See, Harper is incredibly intelligent, eager to learn and just full of potential. Life in the shelter is simply too limiting for her active spirit and bright mind. Because she has a few trigger points, Harper currently isn’t in direct contact with other dogs. That means her days are mostly quiet and uneventful. But when someone takes a moment to sit with her, cuddle her, or take her out – that’s when she lights up. Harper absolutely adores people and thrives on human connection. She’s a dream on the leash – calm, focused and clearly familiar with life in a home. Her whole face lights up the moment she sees someone approaching with a harness. She waits by her door, full of hope that today is her day again. Out on her walks, she’s a total pro – curious, joyful and just enjoying every moment of her exciting break. The sad truth is that on busy days or weeks at the shelter, there's often no time for extra attention – and Harper misses out on her walks. She just sits by her door, waiting and hoping and it breaks our hearts. Even just one walk a week – a little extra attention – brings her so much joy – imagine how she'd shine in a loving home For Harper, we're looking for that active and loving home with people who can give her all the physical and mental enrichment she needs. Because of her prey drive, a cat-free household is required. Harper is an absolute gem &
