Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this animal now! Adoption requirements Adoption process Request this dog now! Harry is about 7.5 years old and simply a dog that one immediately takes to heart. With his friendly, gentle and incredibly balanced nature, he storms into hearts every day and shows what a wonderful companion he is. With a shoulder height of about 48 cm and around 20 kg, the handsome mixed-breed dog belongs to the smaller ones among our animals. His slightly grey muzzle gives a little hint of his age, but with his beautiful tri-color fur and loving gaze, he simply impresses everyone. What Harry experienced in his first years of life, we unfortunately do not know. His story begins for us about three years ago, when he was simply abandoned in a mountain village. Despite everything, Harry has never lost his big heart for people. Harry is incredibly people-oriented, friendly and approachable. He approaches people openly, is neither timid nor anxious, and adapts surprisingly well to new situations. He particularly loves his walks and time outside. Afterwards, he enjoys relaxing in the sun and just winding down. Inside, he quickly adjusts to the daily routine of his humans and brings a pleasant calmness. Harry gets along very well with other dogs. He strongly orientates himself towards his dog friend Anka and also lovingly protects her. Playing with a ball or stuffed toys is not really something Harry knows – playing with his dog friend is completely sufficient for him. Much more important to him are closeness, calmness and petting, which he really enjoys. Also, visitors do not disturb Harry. There is no loud barking or commotion from him – he remains relaxed and composed. Harry also gets along wonderfully with the granddaughter of the family. He also lives together peacefully with the cat in the household. Together with the first dog and the cat, he remains alone at home for 2-3 hours, behaves very calmly and is always very happy when his humans return. Harry also really likes car rides and enjoys accompanying his humans. Harry is an uncomplicated, lovable dog who simply wants to belong and brings incredible joy into life with his calm, warm-hearted nature. Harry can be visited and met at his foster home at any time. After a positive preliminary check and payment of a protection fee, Harry will move into his new home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated against fleas and with an EU pet passport. Who will finally give this treasure his home? Many thanks, Katja, for taking on the godparentship of his name. Status: 14.05.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 14.05.2026

About Harry

What life with Harry looks like

Harry is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Harry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Harry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Harry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Harry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Harry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Harry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Harry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
