adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Hashi and Pumpkin have found a shared home! His story: Black Beauty – a wonderful black tomcat looking for his heart people who want to go through thick and thin with him. Since early August, he has been waiting in Germany. Hashi unfortunately did not have a good start in life. He was found in a park, abandoned by someone who no longer wanted him and his 5 siblings. The 6 kittens were simply stuffed into a bag. At that time, they were only a few days old and could not open their eyes yet. Fortunately, they were found in time and came to our foster home, where they were completely hand-raised. They were bottle-fed, their fur was cared for, and they received artificial warmth. When Hashi then opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a human face. This is why he has a deep trust in people. Perhaps he also perceives us as cats. As he was so gently raised, he knows no fears. Hashi is a very active tomcat who looks forward to many play sessions with his family. He is very clingy and sometimes a bit distant, which is probably due to his youthful exuberance. He needs a family that knows how to love and value him. Additionally, he needs the proximity to his fellow animals, so he cannot be rehomed in single-holding. If there is no other cat in his new home, he will certainly take a fellow animal from the foster home with him, maybe even one of his siblings. Since Hashi does not know free roam, he can only be rehomed as an indoor cat. A cat-safe netted balcony, where he can observe his surroundings, would certainly make him happy.

Hashi hatte leider keinen schönen Start ins Leben.

About Hashi

What life with Hashi looks like

Hashi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hashi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hashi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hashi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hashi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hashi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hashi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hashi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
