Adopt Hava

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Hava is a spayed mixed-breed dog born in November 2024, who was found along with her sisters Hailey, Haviva and Hilda in a box in front of the Svilos animal shelter as a puppy. She is now ready for adoption and is looking for loving people who will never abandon her again. Hava is a person-oriented and very affectionate companion who enjoys the company of her caregivers. She is calm, good-natured and obedient and is generally a pleasant dog who quickly wins hearts with her gentle nature. Hava is initially a bit cautious and shy towards strangers. However, with some time, patience and loving attention, she gains trust and then shows her affectionate and loving side. Hava is not only affectionate but also active. She loves walks and shared activities and excitedly sniffs around the dog park to explore her surroundings calmly. She also enjoys spending time playing energetically with other dogs. We do not know her behavior towards cats and other animals. For Hava we wish people who have enough time for walks, engagement, shared activities and of course lots of cuddles. A confident dog companion in her new home would be beneficial for her as he could give her additional security and orientation. The height of the dog at the shoulder is 50 cm and she weighs about 18 kg.

About Hava

What life with Hava looks like

Hava is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hava, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hava?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hava on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hava if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hava already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hava isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hava and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
