He is a lovely, extremely sociable and affectionate dog who spontaneously approaches everyone and never misses an opportunity to seek attention and share playtime. His personalityHAVANE is a very playful, dynamic and affectionate dog. He loves water, interactions and family life. His joy of living is contagious! Clean and used to living in a house, he adapts well to a family environment, provided he is not left alone for too long.Very close to humans, he however has a great need for presence: loneliness is not suited for him. When he gets bored, he can do some mischief, which is especially a sign of a dog in need of stimulation and attention.Interactions and habitsDogs: OK, and even recommended - the presence of another dog could help him channel his energy.Cats: OK, he has already lived with a cat without any problems.Children: OK from 10 years old. Younger, he could be a bit rough due to enthusiasm.Horses: Curious but timid. He is sensitive to certain loud noises (like sirens, which he can accompany with his vocalizations). His ideal environmentHAVANE cannot live in an apartment. He needs a house with a garden, not only to expend his energy, but especially to share playtime with his humans. The garden alone is not enough: HAVANE needs interaction, presence and activities.Long car trips are still difficult for him (drooling, possible vomiting after several hours). The profile of his ideal familyHAVANE will be happy with people who:Are present and activeLive in a house with a fenced gardenLove affectionate, playful dogs close to humansReady to commit to his emotional balance and his need for exercise.HAVANE is a deeply affectionate dog, who will give a lot of love to those who know how to offer him time, attention and a real place in their daily life. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 523 44 16.

About HAVANE

What life with HAVANE looks like

HAVANE is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting HAVANE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HAVANE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HAVANE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HAVANE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is HAVANE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HAVANE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know HAVANE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
