Adopt Jimmy

Cocker Spaniel · Male · Senior · 12 years

Arrived at the foster family, Jimmy is a lovely cocker with a touching look and a deeply affectionate personality. Very close to people, he only thinks about two things: eating and receiving cuddles. He is a gentle, affectionate and calm dog who enjoys both moments of tenderness and long naps. Jimmy is housebroken and has a rather calm lifestyle. He still enjoys his daily walk of about 30 to 45 minutes, which is adapted to his age and condition. He gets along very well with other dogs as well as with children, making him an easy companion to live with on a daily basis. In terms of health, Jimmy needs regular monitoring. He is completely deaf and has arthritis in one front leg, which explains his slight limp. His ears need to be cleaned regularly, with treatment to ease the itching. His eyes also require care: he suffers from cataracts in both eyes as well as dryness. A treatment is currently in place with cleaning and care several times a day. His vision is slightly reduced, but this does not prevent him from enjoying life. Jimmy also has many warts related to a hormonal imbalance due to old age. A homeopathic treatment is underway to dry them out. His dry and fragile skin also requires attention with regular care, including shampoos and application of a hydrating spray. He benefits from the support of the 30 Millions d'Amis Foundation: his adoption is done through a voluntary donation (capped at 50 euros) and assistance of up to 1000 euros for veterinary costs is granted.

About Jimmy

What life with Jimmy looks like

Jimmy is a senior cocker spaniel dog waiting at SPA de Besançon in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jimmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jimmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Besançon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jimmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jimmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Besançon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jimmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jimmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Besançon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jimmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
