Breed: Dwarf Rabbit Since at the shelter: May 2026 Hazel – small female rabbit seeks loving company &;&; Our lovely Hazel is a brown female dwarf rabbit who arrived at the animal shelter as a found animal. As no one has claimed her, we unfortunately do not know her exact age. Now, we wish for the little lady a home where she can finally arrive and live life to the fullest. Hazel is on the search for a new home starting from June 11, 2026. It is particularly important that she does not have to live alone, as rabbits are social animals and need the company of their fellow animals to truly be happy. Therefore, Hazel will only be rehomed into an appropriately caged home with at least one compatible rabbit companion. Currently, Hazel lives with us in outdoor housing. Due to the season, she can be moved into either well-prepared outdoor housing or a generous indoor housing. What is crucial is that she has enough space to hop, explore, and relax, and can share her daily life with other rabbits. With her cute brown fur and charming nature, Hazel brings the best prerequisites to win the hearts of her new family soon. Now, she just needs a loving home where she finds security, care, and friendly rabbit company. Whoever takes in Hazel gives a small found animal a second chance and wins a lovable companion for many beautiful rabbit moments. &;&; For serious interest, we are happy to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment under the phone number.

About Hazel

What life with Hazel looks like

Hazel is a large puppy/kitten rabbit waiting at Tierheim Lohr am Main in Lohr am Main.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hazel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hazel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lohr am Main handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hazel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hazel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lohr am Main will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hazel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hazel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lohr am Main early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hazel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
