adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hector has found a home! His story: Life needs love, and Hector already had this luck. It was the day he was found by a kind animal rescuer by the roadside. She took him home. There, he lived with dogs and cats until he was ready to pack his bags for a big journey. Upon arriving in Germany, he was immediately open and friendly, as if he had always been there. Hector curiously inspected his temporary home. He enjoys snuggling with his foster parent and gets along well with the existing dogs. He already runs well on a leash and loves being out in nature. With a bit of practice, he will make a great companion. From Romania, he knows cats and had no problems with them. In the foster home, he shows a great interest in them and sometimes chases them. The approximately 3-year-old Hector is about 30 cm tall and has beautiful white fur. He is a confident and playful companion who quickly wins hearts. His friendly and social nature makes him the perfect family dog for people looking for a loyal friend. Hector loves being properly exercised. At home, he can also relax well and looks forward to being spoken to and cuddled. With his open nature, he fits almost any family. Children should be a bit older and accustomed to respectful dog handling. He still has a lot to learn, and his new people should know that Hector has not yet had proper training and does not know all the rules of living together. A visit to a positively working dog training class would surely please him, as shared learning strengthens the bond between human and animal. Hector is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas, and dewormed. He possesses an EU pet passport. He is only available after a positive match. If Hector has slipped into your heart, then contact us. We would also be happy to arrange a visit to the foster home. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful patron Lis, who gave Hector his name. As of: 06.02.

Stand: 06.02.2025

About Hector

What life with Hector looks like

Hector is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hector, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hector?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hector on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hector if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hector already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hector isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hector and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
