Adopt Hedvig

English Bulldog · Female · Young · 1 year

Native Country: Hungary We have a DNA breed determination on file. The wonderful Hedvig was found wandering alone on August 16, 2025, in the neighboring community of Nagykörös and reported to the animal shelter. Her owners could not be found, she was not microchipped, and no one from her human family has contacted the shelter. Perhaps for the best, as around her neck Hedvig had a thick collar with a large carabiner attached, suggesting she was a chained dog. We see this as a great chance for Hedvig to be discovered by loving people and lead a happy dog life surrounded by people who will give her love and affection, guiding her with love but also with consistency. Hedvig is a loving and sweet female dog who was initially shy but is now gaining more confidence and becoming increasingly curious and cheerful, but the animal shelter situation still causes her some difficulty, but that is understandable. She gratefully accepts every bit of attention and affection. Her greatest wish is to be loved, to receive much care and security, to have a safe, soft place to sleep, and people who will love her unconditionally, protect her, and receive her heart. Hedvig also still has some catching up to do, and her people should take pleasure in teaching her everything she needs to know step by step, what she still doesn’t know. Walking on the leash, she already does quite well, but certainly has room for improvement. She would definitely appreciate mental and physical challenges at some point. She is already participating in the mentor program, and the mentors are delighted with her wonderful nature. She has no problems with her fellow animals and lives in a mixed pack. For our charming Hedvig, we are looking for loving and dog-loving people who will always welcome Hedvig. She wants to be loved, challenged, and supported, to go on adventures with her people, to attend dog training classes, to enjoy long walks, and to be spoiled with lots of cuddles. To simply enjoy her life as part of a family, safe and secure. Who can be Hedvig's faithful friend? On October 24, 2025, Hedvig is 45 cm and weighs 17.3 kg. Hedvig is travel-ready. Since Hedvig is a staff mix, you should inform yourself about the housing conditions in your community if you are interested in her.

About Hedvig

What life with Hedvig looks like

Hedvig is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hedvig, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hedvig?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hedvig on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hedvig if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hedvig already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hedvig isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hedvig and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
