Adopt Hedwig & Annette

Mixed Breed Cat · Unknown · Kitten · 4 months

Some stories don't begin with love and security. Hedwig and Annette were likely abandoned and left to their fate. Ill, weakened, and on their own, they were found on a street where they had barely any chance. But the two had other plans. They wanted to live, and they showed us that every single day. Together, we fought for them, provided medical care, nourished, and accompanied them. But the majority of what they achieved came from their own resilience, strength, and trust in people. Today, Hedwig and Annette are healthy, happy, and lively kittens ready to find their own home. The two sisters will only be rehomed together, as they love each other very much and give each other security. Where one is, the other is not far away. Character-wise, they could hardly be sweeter: Hedwig is the brave one of the two. She wants to discover everything, explore everything, and would love to learn about the whole world at once. Nothing is safe from her, and no adventure is too big. Annette is initially more cautious and prefers to observe new situations first. Once she has won your heart, she shows her playful, cuddly, and incredibly loving side. Both enjoy the company of their people very much, love cuddles and attention, but at the same time, they bring a lot of kitten power. They play, frolic, discover, and are guaranteed to brighten every day with a smile. For the two, we wish for a home where they are not just pets but full-fledged family members. Ethical husbandry means for us, among other things: high-quality, sufficient food, scratching options, and appropriate scratching posts, sufficient litter boxes, regular veterinary care, time, love, and engagement. A home where their needs are taken seriously. Even motivated cat beginners are welcome to apply. More important than experience are for us responsibility, willingness to learn, and the wish to give these two a loving home for life. Hedwig and Annette have long left their difficult start behind. Now, all they lack are people who will love them forever. With serious interest, we look forward to a message with some information about you, your living situation, and your previous experiences with cats.

About Hedwig & Annette

What life with Hedwig & Annette looks like

Hedwig & Annette is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Paderborn in Paderborn.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hedwig & Annette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hedwig & Annette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Paderborn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hedwig & Annette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hedwig & Annette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Paderborn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hedwig & Annette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hedwig & Annette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Paderborn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hedwig & Annette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
