Adopt Hegon

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Throughout his life, he has been between clinical walls and the shelter. He came to us as a tiny puppy after an accident. Broken, scared, but with a huge will to live. He fought for a long time. He underwent orthopedic procedures, rehabilitation, learned to walk again, to trust, to enjoy everyday life. Today, Hegon is a beautiful, young dog with a big temperament and an even bigger heart. He is still learning the world, as this world is known to him mainly from the shelter's yards and walks. Although he can be impatient, when emotions take over, he is simply a child who never had a home. On walks, he can walk nicely on a leash, but when excited, he runs off with energy. It's not anger, but excitement and lack of experience. This is a dog who is just learning to control himself. He is warm towards people. He may bark at strangers, but after a while, he asks for contact. With caregivers he knows, he is loving, warm, friendly - simply wonderful. He has never shown aggression. Hegon knows basic commands and loves learning. However, he needs a person who understands that his energy comes from a lack of experience and an excess of emotions. He doesn't destroy, he doesn't vocalize, he only barks when he wants to go for a walk. Hegon is waiting for someone experienced who can guide him calmly and sensitively. A person who will show him that life is not just clinics and the shelter, but also a soft couch, long walks, endless pets, and love that does not disappear after one day. — METADATA — 🧮 Age: 08/2023 🚻 Gender: male 🐾 Size: about 25 kilograms 🏀 Activity: high, but with limitations due to previous operations ❤️ Neutered: yes ℹ️ Chip: yes 💉 Vaccinations: yes 📍 Location: Shelter under Plock. Dziś Hegon to piękny, młody pies z ogromnym temperamentem i jeszcze większym sercem. Hegon czeka na kogoś doświadczonego, kto poprowadzi go spokojnie i z wyczuciem. About Hegon

What life with Hegon looks like

Hegon is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu in Poland.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hegon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hegon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hegon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hegon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hegon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hegon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Judyta dla Psiego Losu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hegon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
