HEIDI 2

Female · Adult · 5 years

HEIDI, an impressive, strong-willed Owtscharka female dog, is looking for connoisseurs of her breed! The approximately 70 cm tall HEIDI, with her light brown-cream coat and bright, amber eyes, is an imposing figure and a real beauty with character. However, as gentle as her gaze may seem at first, her other side is also clearly evident: HEIDI is a self-confident, independent female dog who knows exactly what she wants and what she doesn't. She doesn't approach strangers or new situations with trust, but initially with clear resistance. Therefore, HEIDI needs experienced, confident people who can read her body language, give her security, and approach her with clear leadership, calmness, and consistency. She tests boundaries, reacts with aggression in some situations, and still needs to learn to really open up to people. We don't know what HEIDI has experienced in her previous life; it's likely nothing good. She was found as a stray on the street and could only be secured after some time. At the shelter, it becomes clear that she is not a dog for beginners, but a challenge for people with experience in dealing with livestock guardian dogs or similarly strong characters. HEIDI is generally compatible with conspecifics, as long as they are treated respectfully. Her home should be quiet, structured, and securely fenced; a house in a rural area with a large garden would be ideal. We are looking for connoisseurs and lovers of Owtscharkas who are willing to work with patience, understanding, but also consistency by their side. People who know that trust takes time and are not deterred by this. Attending a livestock guardian dog school with non-violent, structured work would be highly recommended. HEIDI is not a dog for everyone, but for the right people, she can become a fascinating companion, proud, strong, and loyal once she has built a bond. HEIDI requires a rescue sponsorship of 250,00 for her departure. Further information can be found on our homepage: de/helfen/patenschaften/ or at the end of the text. If you bring experience, heart, and respect for this special dog, her handler Iris Lücke is looking forward to your inquiry at 98 or by email to i. luecke-animale. de. You can also apply directly through our self-disclosure, which can be found here: www. casa-animale. de/vermittlung/selbstauskunft (copy the link and paste it in a new window). HEIDI is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and chipped with an EU pet passport after a positive pre-check for a fee of 500,00. A Snap 4DX test (heartworm, Lyme borreliosis, ehrlichiosis, and anaplasmosis) is performed and is included in the sponsorship fee. HEIDI is not given up for outside or kennel keeping. About HEIDI 2

What life with HEIDI 2 looks like

HEIDI 2 is a large adult dog waiting at Casa Animale e.V. in Gefrees.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting HEIDI 2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HEIDI 2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Casa Animale e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HEIDI 2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HEIDI 2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Casa Animale e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is HEIDI 2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HEIDI 2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Casa Animale e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know HEIDI 2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
