Adopt Heidi & Klara

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Heidi and Klara are two female rabbits, whom we believe to be mother and daughter. The two were abandoned and came to us at the animal shelter together. Their relationship shows a mixed dynamic in everyday life. On some days, they get along well and seek each other's company, while on other days, their dynamics are more tense. For this reason, we would like to place Heidi and Klara in a home where one or two neutered buck rabbits already live or where a suitable buck rabbit can move in. We hope this will lead to a more balanced group dynamic and more peace and harmony for all involved. Both are currently in good health. For Heidi and Klara, we are looking for a home with ample space, structure, and experience in rabbit care, so they can integrate well into a mixed group and live stably together in the long term. If interested, please send us photos of the current housing and your contact details via email to info @ animal shelter.

About Heidi & Klara

What life with Heidi & Klara looks like

Heidi & Klara is a adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg in Duisburg.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heidi & Klara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heidi & Klara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heidi & Klara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heidi & Klara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Heidi & Klara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heidi & Klara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Städtisches Tierheim Duisburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heidi & Klara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
