Heidrun

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Adorable, affectionate, and irresistible: Heidrun. What adventures has this young cat likely had in her short life? Her captivating, alert, and intelligent gaze seems to convey a desire to connect with humans. This approximately two-year-old kitten hails from Haselgrund and has been living at the Meiningen Animal Shelter since August. She was admitted by the Veterinary Office along with Pilar, likely her daughter. During her initial weeks in the quarantine station, she may have been grappling with her past, as she exhibited anxious and shy behavior. However, this has since dissipated. The gray-tiger-white beauty has revealed herself to be a sweet, affectionate cat. Anyone who encounters her in the cat house must immediately pet her. She gets along well with other cats and appears accustomed to outdoor access. She often sits by the window, gazing out. Heidrun is one of those soft-pawed felines that immediately win one over and beg to be taken home. If you'd like to experience her charm firsthand, visit the animal shelter on Rohrer Berg and arrange a meeting by calling .

About Heidrun

What life with Heidrun looks like

Heidrun is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Meiningen in Meiningen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heidrun, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heidrun?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Meiningen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heidrun on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heidrun if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Meiningen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Heidrun already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heidrun isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Meiningen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heidrun and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
