adoption requirements adoption process Now meet Heinrich! adoption requirements adoption process Heinrich was locally rehomed! His story: Breb, Romania. Heinrich, the beautiful hunting dog mix, was found in the forest. Whether he was abandoned there or got lost, we don't know. No owner could be found either. Currently, he lives in a Romanian foster home but is searching for a Forever Home. At 20 kg and 55 cm, he expects a very social, friendly, and tolerant male dog. Additionally, he loves being petted. He has just outgrown the toddler stage and has his whole life ahead of him. If you're looking for an active dog who's always up for an adventure in nature, you've found your match in Heinrich. Heinrich wishes for an active home with species-appropriate husbandry. This includes many activities that keep him sufficiently occupied so he doesn't get into mischief. These could include tracking training, mantrailing, or similar activities. As he is a hunting dog, a recall should also be perfect for him. Therefore, he would also be happy about the visit to dog training classes. Boredom is definitely not an issue with him. Heinrich's suitcase is already packed. He travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. And the EU pet passport is already packed. After positive Heinrich has already been adopted and given his name, allowing him to start his new life. As of 06.02.

Stand: 06.02.2024

About Heinrich

What life with Heinrich looks like

Heinrich is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heinrich, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heinrich?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heinrich on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heinrich if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Heinrich already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heinrich isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heinrich and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
