Adopt HEKSA

Female · Adult · 5 years

HEKSA is a large, nice female dog around 6 years old. She is very sensitive and delicate, so she needs a calm home that will teach her life and show her that the world is beautiful. She walks nicely on a leash and has a lot of strength inside, so the new owner must be aware of her size. She loves to be brushed and willingly shows her belly for brushing. She is a super girl with no aggression at all. However, she needs some time to open up. However, her tail always happily wags at the sight of caretakers. She loves spending time with them and going for walks. Other dogs are not a problem for her, she gets along well with both female dog and males. We are looking for a loving, caring and patient home for Hexy, which will love our big girl and show her a new, better life. The description is written based on observations of the dog in the animal shelter. We do not guarantee that her behavior will change at home. HEKSA is under the care of OTOZ Animals animal shelter in Tczew. Registration number in the animal shelter: 289/22 female dog is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and spayed. Weight range: 27-35 kg Call the animal shelter and ask about adoption: e-mail:

About HEKSA

What life with HEKSA looks like

HEKSA is a large adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting HEKSA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HEKSA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HEKSA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HEKSA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is HEKSA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HEKSA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know HEKSA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
