HELEN

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

HELEN, this incredibly beautiful lady has been at her foster home in Germany since September 2025. She made it to Germany from a killing station and a Romanian animal shelter. We can't understand why HELEN hasn't received any inquiries. She is the humility personified and often seems withdrawn, almost sad. Her past has likely had a significant impact on her. She is friendly to all people, regardless of gender. She has learned to use a leash, safety harness, and grooming. HELEN is not a dog that loves to run around. She is a lady! To keep everything going, she runs around the garden with her foster family, but she doesn't think it's necessary. She is not the right dog for people who are looking for an active dog. But for those who want a real friend and want to take it easy, HELEN is perfect! The beautiful HELEN likes to lie on her mattress in the kitchen or outside and seems to enjoy the peace there. She is house-trained from day one and knows how to behave in the house. She loves petting and especially crunchy treats, which she takes very carefully, and she also waits patiently for her food bowl. HELEN can be left alone for a few hours without any problems and has quickly gotten used to the different everyday noises in the household. The existing gang at the foster home (3 small dogs of both sexes) is not the right environment for the lady. A dog that may be present should rather have a similarly relaxed character. A wonderful, relaxed, good soul for a relaxed old age. We wish HELEN a quiet household. With few stairs if possible, a garden at the house. Small, reasonable walks so that she can spend her retirement safely with her own family. Of course, there must be enough patience, love, and time so that she can settle in her new environment in peace. Would you like to give HELEN a new home where she can spend her retirement carefree? Your mediator Iris Lücke is looking forward to your inquiry at 98 or by email at i. luecke-animale.de. You can also apply directly via our self-disclosure, which you can find here: www. casa-animale.de/vermittlung/selbstauskunft (copy the link and paste it in a new window). HELEN is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and chipped with an EU pet passport after a positive pre-control with a fee after agreement. A 4DX Snap test for Mediterranean diseases was performed before departure. HELEN will not be given up for kennel or outdoor housing. About HELEN

What life with HELEN looks like

HELEN is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Casa Animale e.V. in Gefrees.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting HELEN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HELEN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Casa Animale e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HELEN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HELEN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Casa Animale e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is HELEN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HELEN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Casa Animale e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know HELEN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
