Henio

Mixed Breed · Male

Henio, a joey of gazelles. His unusual appearance immediately catches the eye: long fur, a wide majestic tail and funny tufts on the ends of his paws. His crooked front paw (caused by joint degeneration, which however does not seem dangerous and is not progressing) only adds to his charm. Henio is a calm cat who spends most of the day sleeping or lounging. However, what is important is that he loves to do this near his people. He always moves to the room where we are currently sitting - he finds a resting place there so as to be close to us. In the evening, when we go to bed, he immediately jumps on it, sometimes lying on us. He then spends the whole night at our feet. He often purrs, and if he isn't doing so, just petting him will make him start. However, it should be remembered that, despite all this, he is also quite shy. He needs a lot of time to get used to a new person. He can easily be frightened by a sudden sound or movement. When he feels threatened (for example, when guests come into the house), he flees to a previously chosen position (for us, the safest place for him is under the bed). He is not interested in being picked up at all. When his play mode is activated, he likes to chase various objects, scratch the scratching post, run around the apartment or spin around his own tail. He also likes to play with us, but then you have to be careful, because although he usually tries not to do so, sometimes he accidentally extends his claws. We are looking for a home for Henio that is non-exiting, loving, safe, with a secured balcony (if any) and/or windows, which will provide him with the best care. male cat is a carrier of the feline leukemia virus (FELV), currently lives in a temporary home alone. WARNING!

PL·Show original

Potrzebuje dużo czasu, by przekonać się do nowego człowieka. UWAGA! About Henio

What life with Henio looks like

Henio is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Stawiamy na Łapy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
