Henry

Mixed Breed · Male

Meet lovely Henry., a gentle, laid-back boy who enjoys taking life at his own pace. He’s not overly energetic and is happiest when he’s lounging around, relaxing and enjoying some peace and quiet. 😸❤️ Henry can be a little shy when meeting new people and may need some time to get to know you. But once he feels comfortable and learns to trust you, he absolutely loves a good cuddle. 🥰 He could be just as happy living indoors or enjoying some outdoor adventures. Henry has spent his whole life with Gordon, and the two share a very special bond. It would be wonderful if they could find a loving home together and continue their journey side by side. 🐾❤️ Cat Adoption Application DAFM No KPT 200001C

About Henry

What life with Henry looks like

Henry is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Laois SPCA in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Henry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Laois SPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Laois SPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Laois SPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
