Hera

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 6 years

Age: born on 02/15/2016 Identification: 250 269 606 587 308 Physical characteristics: a beautiful gray tabby cat, a bit plump. Tested negative for FIV / Felv, vaccinated, spayed and identified by an electronic microchip. Hera has a slight breathing issue to monitor in the future. Personality: Hera is a bit cautious when she doesn't know someone, but will become a real ball of love. Once reassured, Hera is very affectionate and sociable. From our arrival home in the evening, she comes to see us and rubs against our hands for pets. Overall, she really enjoys our presence and likes to lie next to us or be in the same room with us. She has also become more playful and enjoys running after strings or toys that are thrown to her. Very curious, like most cats, she comes to see/sense anything new. However, she remains quite sensitive in certain areas and sometimes gives a paw if the petting is too hard or in a spot she doesn't like. For her age, she is still quite active. She doesn't run everywhere, but we find that she has the attitude of a 5/6-year-old cat rather than a senior cat of 10 years. She is often awake and can still be dynamic, especially in play. Quite greedy, she will remind you when it's time for her food. Finally, if you have plants, make sure they are non-toxic to cats and place them high up, Hera loves to smell them! Background: entrusted to the association due to a very severe allergy of a member of the household. Ideal placement: in a loving, patient, and calm household with presence, minimum 40m2, no other cat. Contact: animal available in foster care in Paris 17th. Contact Karine after 7pm and on weekends, by email or via web form.

About Hera

What life with Hera looks like

Hera is a small adult european shorthair cat waiting at Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 in Paris.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
