adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Peace in Peace, little Hermann… His story: The approximately 4-month-old Hermann was found in a car on a afternoon. When our helper passed by a parked car in the underground garage of a shopping center, she suddenly heard a desperate meowing. At first, she looked into the car but saw nothing. Nothing was visible under the car either. Then it became clear to her that the cat must be stuck in the engine compartment of the car. She went to the shopping center reception and asked to notify the car owner. When the owner came and opened the hood, they saw two frightened eyes. The car owner explained that the cat did not belong to him and that he could not take it home. Therefore, she decided to take Hermann with her and bring him to safety until he finds the right family. Hermann shows himself to be a compatible tomcat who should not be kept in isolation. After an adjustment period, he could also be allowed outside, provided the area is safe enough and not near a busy street. Hermann is a lovable and curious tomcat who eagerly awaits a loving home where he will receive the care and attention he deserves. Whether he gets along with dogs has not yet been tested. Before Hermann moves into his new home, he, like all our cats and tomcats, will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He will also be tested for FIV and FeLV to ensure his health. Additionally, he will receive an EU pet passport that documents all important information and vaccinations. This cat needs outdoor access.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Ruhe in Frieden, kleiner Hermann…

About Hermann

What life with Hermann looks like

Hermann is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hermann, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hermann?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hermann on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hermann if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hermann already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hermann isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hermann and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
