adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hermes has found a home! His story: The luck has a name: Hermes. The cute little puppy bounds around with endless energy, his tiny tail wags like a metronome of joy. With his big, curious eyes and floppy ears, he explores his surroundings curiously and stumbles over his own paws from time to time. And while Hermes didn't start life so easily. Born together with his four siblings Hera, Kana, Vince, and Odin under a bridge by his mother Nanni, the family was saved and all now eagerly wait in their foster home to be seen and travel to their forever home. Hermes with the fluffy fur and the white patch will likely grow to a medium size. Hermes gets along well with his fellow animals and already knows cats. We assume he is a German Shepherd mix and brings along some hound genes. Hermes is looking for people who don't expect much from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or another mishap shouldn't be held against him and Hermes should always be guided with a positive, reinforcing training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down and often turns sweet little babies into medium-sized rebels. They "forget" a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important to train consistently but lovingly during this phase. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Hermes would also be very happy to travel to a foster home. Hermes travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Of course, he also has an EU pet passport. Ready for Hermes? He is looking forward to your inquiry. Thanks Anja! You gave Hermes his beautiful name and thus an identity. Status: 03.05.

Stand: 03.05.2025

About Hermes

What life with Hermes looks like

Hermes is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hermes, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hermes?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hermes on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hermes if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hermes already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hermes isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hermes and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
