Adopt Herrmann

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Entlebucher Sennenhund-Beagle-mixed breed Herrmann – a great dog for the right people Herrmann is looking for a new home through a placement assistance. Acquired as a young puppy, it now shows that the young family it lives with cannot dedicate the necessary time to meet the needs of the young pup. Herrmann is an alert, active dog who seeks people who enjoy movement, mental stimulation, and teamwork. He brings a lot of energy and needs to learn how to calm down better. Therefore, we wish to find experienced and active people who can offer him clear structures and a good balance of stimulation and relaxation. With other dogs, he shows a very social and friendly demeanor, making him suitable as a second dog. However, any existing only dog should have a calm and balanced character and serve as a role model for Herrmann. Especially important for him are mental stimulation and head work to keep him meaningfully engaged. He also needs regular quiet phases to learn how to wind down. In everyday life, Herrmann already brings many great qualities. He is house-trained, can stay alone, and rides in the car without a problem. He also likes children. When jogging, he currently reacts with barking, seemingly perceiving them as a threat. Dog encounters on the leash also stress him. Overall, his leash manners are still not good. Herrmann knows the basic commands and has a good recall. He should now be worked with calmly, consistently, and knowledgeably, as he is a dog with great potential. He would definitely benefit from a visit to dog training classes. Here, one could explore which dog sport might suit him. As he is a clever dog, he needs a task that keeps him physically and mentally occupied. For those seeking a clever, lovable, and very active companion and willing to invest time in his further development, Herrmann would make a great addition.

About Herrmann

What life with Herrmann looks like

Herrmann is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Herrmann, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Herrmann?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Herrmann on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Herrmann if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Herrmann already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Herrmann isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Herrmann and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
