Hexe

European Shorthair · Female · Senior · 19 years

Hexe came to us as a found cat from the animal shelter. She seems to have roamed outside for quite some time and was in not a very good condition. She has, however, picked up and is gradually coming out of her shell. At first, she only snarled at us and kept her distance, but that is no longer the case. She is becoming more curious and even approaches us on her own. Only touching is still not happening. Certainly, this will change with some time outside the shelter stress and lots of affection. Other fellow animals are not really to her liking, so she should move into her new home alone. A free run outside would certainly be nice for her, as she is used to roaming around. If you are looking for a raw diamond that still needs to be polished, Hexe is exactly what you need. She would be happy to meet you once at the animal shelter. This cat needs outdoor access.

DE·Show original

About Hexe

What life with Hexe looks like

Hexe is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Wuppertal in Wuppertal.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hexe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hexe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wuppertal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hexe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hexe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wuppertal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hexe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hexe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wuppertal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hexe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
