Hila (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Name Hila Born 31.07.2019 Gender female, neutered Breed mixed breed Size small (just under 6 kg) foster home Hila, now Emma has made it and found her new home. We wish her and her new family a beautiful time together. The age given here is often an estimate, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. We know nothing about her history, including how the rear leg injury occurred, but she manages well and the orthopedic examination showed that it is an old fracture and no operation is necessary because she can live without pain. … now Fina, is a very people-oriented, gentle, and cuddly small female dog. She loves being stroked and enjoys quiet, human affection. Her slightly shortened rear leg does not restrict her in everyday life, although she should not jump or go up stairs more than necessary. She copes with unknown situations, which sometimes scare her, with the help of her trusted people well. At the moment, she lives very harmoniously with an older male dog. As she is very submissive herself, a potential only dog should be calm and reserved. She already runs well on a leash. In contact with other dogs, Fina is fearful and needs more self-confidence, which she will gain over time through her people. Driving her in the car still stresses her, but she will also manage that with some practice. It is important that her people take time for her and show her, with sensitivity and authority, how wonderful a dog life can be. As Fina learns quickly, it shouldn't be a problem to teach her the most important basic commands. We would like a relatively quiet home for our little mouse. Children are no problem, but should be a bit older to understand that she needs her peace and a quiet place. We could also imagine her as a "desk dog" because she is a quiet creature. About Hila (vermittelt)

What life with Hila (vermittelt) looks like

Hila (vermittelt) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hila (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hila (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hila (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hila (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hila (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hila (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hila (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
