Hilda B

Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Hilda B2016 | Black | Gypsy Cob | Under 14.2hhHilda B has recently been out on our Loanie Pony Scheme. She returned to us a little different – decidedly bothered by life under saddle. So, after a soundness check-up we decided a little down time and a spell with Dr Green might help her be ready for a fresh start soon. Time will only tell.We will always be Here4Horses like Hilda who can rely on us to meet her needs for the rest of her days. The story so far...Hilda B’s name is a play on the late, great comedian Hylda Baker and she is unusual in several ways. She is female for starters, when normally it is colts that we find abandoned. Hilda is also black rather than coloured, which again is quite a rarity in these parts. We picked up Hilda in 2018 as an abandonment case for Durham County Council, she was lean and louse-ridden and despite our best efforts, no owner came forward to claim her.Hilda turned out to be a very sweet pony and not ‘mareish’ at all. Mareish is a horsey term to describe some mares who can be temperamental and prone to moodiness, often linked to the effect of hormones. She is placid, keeps herself out of trouble and prefers a quiet life in the company of people.Hilda w

About Hilda B

What life with Hilda B looks like

Hilda B is a senior horse waiting at Here4Horses in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hilda B, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hilda B?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Here4Horses handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hilda B on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hilda B if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a horse can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Here4Horses what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Hilda B already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a horse comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Here4Horses directly what is included and what Hilda B still needs.
What happens if Hilda B isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Here4Horses early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hilda B and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
