adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Hilde has found her home! Her story: Are you looking for a dog who looks a bit different and has a heart in the right place? Then you are exactly right for Hilde. Hilde is a true unique. With her flowing brown-black fur, the stylish white chest, and the sweet floppy ears, she looks a little bit like a proud German Shepherd hiding in the body of a dachshund. At a hand-friendly size of 33 cm and weighing 9 kg, she is the ideal companion for all life situations. Hilde was rescued by our animal welfare worker Istvan in a village near Zalau, where she was likely abandoned and had to fend for herself for several weeks. As she already runs well on a leash and loves the proximity to humans, it is assumed that she once had a home. However, in the new home, she should be given the necessary time and patience to settle in and get used to the new routine. Character-wise, Hilde is an absolutely balanced and friendly female dog who gets along well with her fellow animals (cats were not tested) and is enthusiastic about every snack. The puppy stage and the mischief of puberty are already behind her, and she is now ready to start her life afresh. Hilde is looking forward to long walks in nature, a cozy dog bed, many snuggling hours, and would certainly also be a great student in dog training classes to learn a few new things together with her people. Hilde travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She also has her EU pet passport in her luggage. After a positive But also a foster home would be a good start to a happy future. Who will give this uncomplicated and lovable female dog the ticket to a happy life? Many thanks to Birgit G., who gave the sweet Hilde her name and thus paved the way to a happy dog life. As of: 11.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 11.02.2026

About Hilde

What life with Hilde looks like

Hilde is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hilde, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hilde?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hilde on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hilde if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hilde already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hilde isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hilde and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
