Hjarta

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hjarta turns out to be a true dream dog. She is already house-trained and enjoys finally living a life outside of cages. She is friendly to all people and gets along with all dogs. Hjarta was rescued from the public shelter in Zalau. Our golden piece is now searching for her people. We don't know what you've experienced in your life so far. At most, the old scar on her face suggests that you didn't always have it easy. But we do know that you deserve a fresh start. Your name comes from the Nordic language and means heart. And your heart has the beautiful female dog to give. For people who don't necessarily want a very young dog anymore, but still want a dog who can start anew. Hjarta is described as very friendly, modest, and compliant, and she also knows the command "sit." Overall, she has a rather calm and balanced nature. Ideal conditions if you no longer want to go through the entire puppyhood and adolescence with the dog. She has a nice medium size of 50 cm and weighs 20 kg. Since we don't know anything about Hjarta's past, we can't say whether she has ever lived in a household. Therefore, she should be able to forgive her the occasional mishap. Hjarta gets along well with other dogs, but cats have not yet been tested. Hjarta is looking forward to a cozy spot in your home and to take up residence in your heart, to embark on new adventures with you. Her luggage is already packed. She travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Of course, she also has her EU pet passport in her luggage. She would also be happy with a foster home.

Stand: 01.08.2024

About Hjarta

What life with Hjarta looks like

Hjarta is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hjarta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hjarta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hjarta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hjarta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hjarta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hjarta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hjarta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
