Holdacska

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 15 years

Please help me and my siblings find a loving family! We came to the shelter when we were very young. We have never had a family before! We get love from our caregivers, but unfortunately they don't have enough time for us, as there are many of our fellow animals waiting for affection. I am shy and tend to avoid strangers at first. However, I get along well with my own kind. Unfortunately, I can't walk on a leash. For me, the ideal owner would have lots of patience to teach me that I don't have to be afraid of everyone, because there are so many good people around us. Please help me, so that I finally have a family and learn what it's like to be part of a real family! This is my only wish! Will you help me succeed?

About Holdacska

What life with Holdacska looks like

Holdacska is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Mogyoró Menedék Szentes in Hungary.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holdacska, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holdacska?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mogyoró Menedék Szentes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holdacska on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holdacska if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mogyoró Menedék Szentes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Holdacska already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holdacska isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mogyoró Menedék Szentes early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holdacska and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
