Holly

Chihuahua · Female · Young · 1 year

Chihuahua mix Holly - small female with a big heart is looking for her forever home. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about her past. All the more we wish for her to start a new, beautiful chapter now. The little mouse is currently a bit reserved. She probably needs some time to gain trust and feel safe with strangers and in unfamiliar situations. However, we are sure that behind her cautious nature is a wonderful little personality that can flourish with the right people. Since we don't know anything about Holly's previous life, her future people should be prepared that she may still need to learn some things that are part of everyday life with a dog. Housebreaking, leash training, staying alone and all the small rules of living together could be new to her. But with patience, loving guidance and positive support, she will be able to learn these things step by step. As a Chihuahua mix, Holly may be small, but of course she is a full-fledged dog with her own needs. She also wants to go for walks, sniff, discover the world and participate in her people's daily lives. Small dogs should never be considered as accessories or underestimated because of their size. For Holly, we wish for people who can patiently give her security and give her the time she needs to arrive. People who lovingly accompany her, give her orientation and enjoy discovering the world with her. Holly is still young and has her whole life ahead of her. Whoever gives her the chance of a loving home can look forward to experiencing together with her how a initially cautious little dog becomes an increasingly confident and happy companion for life.

About Holly

What life with Holly looks like

Holly is a large young adult chihuahua dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Holly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
