All cats Holly Print Published: March 18, 2026 Breed: EKH Age: approx. 2017 (possibly younger) Gender: female neutered: yes Color: tortoiseshell husbandry: Free-roaming We took in Holly from our partner organization, the Tierhilfe Hoffnung. She is one of 23 cats that lived together with 114 dogs on a farm and were secured by the animal protection police. Holly is a female cat that you hardly notice. She is still a bit shy and needs time to trust people. Once she has gained her trust, she rubs against your legs and lets you pet her. We wish for her a quiet home where the female cat can build trust and where a dog lives. She loves dogs above all and would like to cuddle with them. So, if you have a cat-friendly dog at home, you will get a dream cat here. It would be great if she could move out with one of her friends. Holly also loves to play and is curious. After an acclimatization period, Holly should be allowed to have free-roaming in a quiet location. Would you like to meet Holly? For more information and/or to arrange a visit (or contact the foster home), please call the animal shelter at the number provided. It would be best to call in the morning between 9:00 and 12:00, and then again between 14:00 and 16:00. Please understand that it may not always be possible for someone to answer immediately, as our office is not always staffed and the employees are often busy with animal care. So, please do not give up and try calling multiple times.

About Holly

What life with Holly looks like

Holly is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Holly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
