Hoppy

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Hoppy, a chocolate-coated 14-year-old dog with an infinitely gentle gaze, is looking for his forever home. He arrived at the shelter after being seized from his previous owners, who had neglected him for months or even years. Our veterinary team worked tirelessly to treat Hoppy's health issues, and he has gained weight, going from 21 to 28 kg in just a few weeks. However, cancer had already taken too much ground... With only a few months left, Hoppy is a very kind dog who loves cuddles and is never contrary during handling, even when it's painful or uncomfortable. He doesn't pull on the leash unless an interesting smell catches his attention, but he's still a gentle soul. We are looking for a home with a garden, possibly another dog, but no cats; a cozy bed to relieve his fragile joints, a suitable diet, and lots of love and presence. Most importantly, we need people who understand that veterinary care will be necessary to support Hoppy's health... not cure it. If you fit the profile, please contact us by email with your phone number, and we'll discuss his future together.

About Hoppy

What life with Hoppy looks like

Hoppy is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SRPA Liege in Srpa Liege.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hoppy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hoppy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SRPA Liege handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hoppy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hoppy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SRPA Liege will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hoppy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hoppy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SRPA Liege early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hoppy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
