Horst

Mixed Breed · Male

Horst - curious character seeks rabbit friends and people with understanding Our Horst is a curious, open-minded rabbit who likes to know what's going on around him. He finds people exciting and attention is generally a nice thing - however, Horst likes to decide for himself when and how much of it is desired. 😉 If he doesn't feel like cuddles or just wants his space, he can express this quite unmistakably. Then it also happens that he jumps towards his counterpart. Horst is not a rabbit that lets everything happen to him quietly, but a small character with his own ideas and clear boundaries. Health-wise, Horst has already had a small procedure: a growth had to be removed surgically from his side. He has survived the operation well and recovered from it perfectly. Horst is neutered and now wishes a home with plenty of space and of course rabbit society. He would very much like to move into an existing, suitable rabbit group. A joint move with Hannelore would also be possible - the two could start their new chapter together. ❤️ For Horst, we wish for people who appreciate rabbits for what they are: independent personalities who can enjoy closeness, but also decide for themselves when they feel like it. Whoever respects his boundaries and approaches him with calmness and understanding will get a curious and interested little roommate, with whom it will definitely not be boring. Horst is not looking for a home where he has to function. He is looking for one where he can just be Horst.

About Horst

What life with Horst looks like

Horst is a small adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. in Germany.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Horst, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Horst?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Horst on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Horst if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Horst already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. directly what is included and what Horst still needs.
What happens if Horst isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Rodenberg / Bad Nenndorf und Umgegend e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Horst and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
