HOUDINI

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

We present HOUDINI, baptized with this name by the boy who rescued him, as he tells us there was no way to catch him with live traps: once inside, he would escape like by magic. He is one of the dogs from the pine forest of Chiclana, where there were around 30 more. With the help of several associations and individuals, we have been working together for about two years to get them out and give them a new life. HOUDINI is a dog accustomed to living in a pack, with minimal human contact. For this reason, at first, he is quite shy and fearful, but he is very noble: he allows us to handle him without making any ugly gestures. All the dogs from the pine forest share a similar character: at first, they are scared and unsure, but once you earn their trust, they become very affectionate, attached, and very grateful dogs that adapt very well to family life. He still needs time and effort, and we believe that where he will evolve best is in a stable home, where he lives daily with the same people, gradually building a bond of trust with them. His family will have to be patient and respectful of his evolution and adaptation process, accompanying him with love and without rushing.

About HOUDINI

What life with HOUDINI looks like

HOUDINI is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Arca de Noé in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting HOUDINI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HOUDINI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arca de Noé handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HOUDINI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HOUDINI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arca de Noé will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is HOUDINI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HOUDINI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arca de Noé early rather than rehoming privately; they know HOUDINI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
