Hugo (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

In the ages provided here, they are often estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. Hugo Born April 2016, male neutered dog, mixed breed, small size, foster home. We are happy that Hugo found a new "forever home" quickly and hope that he and his family will form a good team and experience many beautiful adventures together. Hugo … Heart murmur with full transparency Hello, I am Hugo, a small Terrier-Dackel mix, neutered/microchipped. I was born on Teneriffa, but it wasn't soooo great there. When I got the chance to travel to Germany to SC-Dogs, I made the move immediately. Upon arrival, I was lovingly pampered and medically checked. Unfortunately, Uncle Doc couldn't heal my left eye, and so I now conquer the world with full transparency, heart, and mind… and what can I say… it's going great. Sometimes I get startled if I don't immediately notice something from the left, but I can handle that. Okay, I have a slightly smaller ear on the left side, but that doesn't bother me at all. Frau makes sure to clean it regularly, and that's that. In June 2019, I moved to my favorite people in the Spessart… and what can I say, it smells of deer and hare, field mice to the point of being overwhelming, with occasionally some silly cats, but otherwise, it's exactly my thing, because, I am a little big hunter 🙂 Herr and Frau work in the Rhine-Main area and I have always been able to go to work with them, whether by train or car, I am chill. The city and the village, each have their charms… I love going on adventures in the forest and being out with my favorite people, but I also stay home alone sometimes and pursue my other hobbies, sleeping and chilling, which is cool besides being petted and cuddled. And since I need a cozy home, I don't bark, as it bothers me when I'm sleeping. Okay, sometimes I do let Chief out outside, but who can't… I usually sort that out with the buddies, and if the chemistry is right, then a game is in order, if not… who can blame me. By the way, I also get along with smaller children as long as they don't mistake me for a toy… they can give me a quick and gentle pet, but then I prefer to watch the whole thing from my cuddle spot. … Now for the sad part… why I am looking for YOU… Herr and Frau have to face new professional and personal challenges, which bring our lives into disarray, and they are doing the hardest thing in the world for me by searching for a new, exciting home because… because they love me and want me to continue to be happy. So, now it's up to YOU to get to know me. See you soon,… (Your?) Hugo… also known as Schlumpf, Muckl, Mücke, Herr Dimpfelmoser.….As long as you love me. Here are a few pictures. About Hugo (vermittelt)

What life with Hugo (vermittelt) looks like

Hugo (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hugo (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hugo (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hugo (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hugo (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hugo (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hugo (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hugo (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
