HUMO - seeks suitable living space - Tom 7.5 years, born 07.09.2019, vaccinated, chipped, neutered, EU passport. - Waiting in Spain Humo is a calm tomcat with experience in the cat community. He not only has a gaze that penetrates the soul, but also the energy of a relaxed and confident tomcat, a life partner who can be enjoyed watching as he walks elegantly through the apartment. Humo lived in a colony of abandoned domestic cats that had to be cleared in a few days. He and four other companions came to the LA CANDELA animal shelter, where they have been living ever since. Initially, he was a bit shy and hid. Everything was unknown and made him cautious. He has now gained trust and understood that there is no longer any danger for him. He is becoming much more affectionate and sociable. Humo probably never experienced the security of a family. So far, the other cats and the caregivers are his family. HUMO - sucht passenden Lebensplatz - Kater 7,5 J., geb. -. About HUMO

What life with HUMO looks like

HUMO is an adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting HUMO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HUMO?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HUMO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HUMO if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is HUMO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HUMO isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know HUMO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
