Hus

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Shepherd mix Hus seeks his home ❤️ Hus is now living in a foster home in Germany and is showing what a great guy he is. He is a calm and balanced representative of his breed, very people-oriented and incredibly affectionate. He takes new things well and loves car rides. Hus gets along well with other dogs. An existing dog can also show him clear and fair boundaries if Hus crosses them once - he understands and accepts such statements well. He can be placed with another dog or as a single dog. Unfortunately, Hus was largely left to himself by his former owner. He even drove over his paw with the car and left the injury untreated for weeks. The paw was operated on about a year ago, the inserted pin still needs to be removed. We as an association cover the costs for this, but would like to have the intervention carried out only after Hus has arrived in his new home and everything can be done in peace. His hip was also broken and has not grown together optimally. In addition, he currently lacks muscle, which should be slowly built up. Physiotherapy would be useful here in the future. Due to the earlier underemployment, Hus began to bite his tail out of boredom, so a small piece had to be removed. However, in his foster home, it shows how balanced and great he develops when he gets the attention and occupation he needs. We wish Hus experienced shepherd people who will give him loving guidance, occupation and finally the attention he has been missing for so long. Hus deserves it more than anything to finally arrive properly. ❤️

DE·Show original

About Hus

What life with Hus looks like

Hus is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
