Adopt Hutch

French Bulldog · Male · Adult · 6 years

Breed: French Bulldog Color: Brown-Black Age: December 20, 2020 Gender: male Neutered: yes Reason for surrender: changed living conditions Personality: Hutch has lived with us since his 8th week of life and is a wonderful, lovable companion. He is playful, curious, and needs a lot of closeness with his people. For him, the best thing is to be there – whether on a long walk or just a short round. As long as he can be near his trusted people, he is happy. Typically, a French Bulldog like Hutch likes to be right in the middle of things rather than just being there. He is a very loyal dog with a big heart and a loving nature. He loves people, gets along well with children, and is also friendly to other dogs. On the leash, Hutch can sometimes be a bit nervous, which can make walks an occasional challenge. With patience and a calm lead, he handles it well. Hutch unfortunately struggles with allergies and therefore relies on medication. His needs in this area should be taken seriously to ensure his well-being. We wish for Hutch a loving home where he can spend a lot of time and closeness with his people. A garden would be an absolute dream for him – a place where he can relax and enjoy life. Hutch is a wonderful dog who will give his new family a lot of love, loyalty, and joy. About Hutch

What life with Hutch looks like

Hutch is a medium-sized adult french bulldog dog waiting at Berner Tierzentrum in Switzerland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hutch, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hutch?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Berner Tierzentrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hutch on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hutch if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Berner Tierzentrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hutch already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hutch isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Berner Tierzentrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hutch and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
