Ian

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

How to adopt a dog? Ian is a puppy approximately 8 months old, the son of Xispa, and brother to Cipri and Don. He was born in the animal shelter after his mother was rescued from an extreme accumulation case where over 40 dogs lived in deplorable conditions, without veterinary care or well-being. Thanks to that rescue, Ian and his brothers had the luck to start their lives in a safe environment, with attention, cleanliness, and affection. Since a young age, Ian has shown himself to be a full of energy, joy, and affection puppy. He is playful, sociable, and very close to people, with that mix of vitality and sweetness so characteristic of puppies that have grown up surrounded by care. He was adopted with great enthusiasm by a family who thought they could offer him a definitive home. However, after only two months, they realized they couldn't dedicate the time, patience, and consistency a puppy needs to adapt and learn. Finally, Ian returned to the animal shelter. Despite this experience, Ian hasn't lost his trust or desire to want. He still remains a loving, playful puppy with many desires to learn and share his life with a committed family. His story reminds us how important it is to understand that adoption involves an adaptation process, especially in young dogs, and that it requires time, involvement, and support. Ian now seeks a second chance, a family that understands his life stage, willing to accompany him in his growth, and who wants him as part of the family, forever. About Ian

What life with Ian looks like

Ian is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Huellas Callejeras in Spain.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Huellas Callejeras handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Huellas Callejeras will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Huellas Callejeras early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
