Adopt Idylle

Labrador Retriever · Female · Senior · 12 years

Idylle has unfortunately spent more years at the shelter than in a warm home. No worthy family has ever given her patience or understood her past traumas. Idylle is wary of humans, that's true, but she needs to feel safe before revealing herself and showing you how much she loves cuddles! Idylle arrived at the shelter in February 2016 after a separation. We have very little information about her past, but her wariness and timid nature suggest that her past may not have been very happy. Idylle will need time to get to know you, but some treats should help you take the first step with her. Don't hesitate to take the time to come meet her; she will show you her true personality over time, and your relationship will only become stronger! The future home of Idylle must be without children or cats. She is social with certain other animals of the same species (she lives in a park with her friend Bram during the day for now 8 years!). If you already have a dog in your home, the compatibility will need to be tested beforehand. Idylle is still very energetic and will enjoy walks with you! Idylle is in SOS because of her long time at the shelter and her advancing age. She can be adopted directly or placed in a permanent foster home. About Idylle

What life with Idylle looks like

Idylle is a large senior labrador retriever dog waiting at Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Idylle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Idylle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Idylle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Idylle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Idylle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Idylle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Le refuge du Penthièvre et du Méné early rather than rehoming privately; they know Idylle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
